Early in our practice, we updated and repurposed our clients' home from a vacation beach house to their permanent residence.

Two generations later, the home is now cherished by their children, grandchildren, and frequent guests.

A family of writers, all of them need space for solitude and inspiration, so we designed a separate space with room for cars, beach accoutrements, and a writer's loft with a rooftop garret to take in the spectacular views of Cape Cod and Nantucket Sound.

Reminiscent of the 19th century Lifesaving Service station near Chatham, this design incorporates the scale, proportions, material, and details found in many vacation homes built in the late 1800's.
